If you are applying to an out of state school you need to fill out to different applications, one is an online application through the AAVMC and the other is a supplemental application that is school specific. Depending on the school you are applying to, you may or may not need to fill out a supplemental application. Letters of recommendation are an important part of the application process, and as such, it is important to start thinking about which veterinarians, faculty mentors, professors you want to have write you a letter of recommendation early in your college career (Freshman year).

It is important to read applications carefully as each of them require different essays, explanations, etc.  Make sure to take time and include everything that you have done, no matter how small, on the application. You never know what will be the extra thing that gets you in.

Spend time looking at the AAVMA website, as it will be your guide while applying. It also contains statistics about the past several years vet students, information on each school, different job opportunities, etc.
